MERCIAN NORDIC WALKING NEWSLETTER – LOTS TO READ BUT SOME VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Loads to tell you about for August and beyond but first I want to tell you about the Cotswold 24.
The teams were amazing with some great times and fantastic efforts. We fielded three teams in all and, once again, I was proud of the way we operate as a group. Outstanding people.
Next year we will do things slightly differently in that we will all sign up as “solo” entrants so there is more flexibility about when to walk which also allows for people to achieve their personal goals.
If you would like to be kept informed of the Cotswold 24 Hour Race then sign up here:

Following feedback we have decided to try listing Emma’s Yoga as a standalone class so that you are not forced to sign up for 4 weeks. As we have a hall to pay for we do need people to book if you want yoga to continue. The feedback is fantastic with everyone having a great time.
There is a lot of buzz being created around our trips away.
We still have places available for The Return To The Shropshire Hills.
The Hardwick Hall Christmas day out still has the odd few places remaining.
Civil War Battle of Cropredy Bridge Dy Out
Following the huge success of last years Halloween walk we intend to repeat it.
We will do a walk around the alleyways and byways of Bromsgrove with some true and not so true ghost stories. We will then end up in Avoncroft for the organised ghost walk around there (extra cost). It is imperative to book so I know who wants to come so I can make arrangements with Avoncroft.
We only have three places left for the Cornwall Trip so if you are interested you will need to sign up for the non refundable deposit listing here:
https://exercise-anywhere.com/…/35931-Cornwall-Weekender-13… Please note that you will also have to complete the booking at a later date here;
You will also need to sort out some accommodation.
LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE TRIP – AUGUST 18
I know this seems early but you do need to get your accommodation booked asap if you want to come to this. Details are in the listings below.
Like Cornwall it is a two stage booking process.
Pay the deposit here:
Complete your booking here at a later date:
We will be hosted by Nordic Walking UK Saddleworth for this trip and they will be joining us on some Aston Cantlow walks in May next year and I would love you guys to join them for a few walks:
They have also invited you to evening BBQ celebrations at Island Meadow, Aston Cantlow, where they are staying.
I am 60% through the script for the Pantowalk but remember this is the Christmas lunch too. Once you book Elaine will be in touch to make sure you are booked in to our Christmas meal.
STOURPORT TO BEWDLEY AND SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY
Elaine is looking into us doing a 4 mile walk from Stourport to Bewdley – hopping on the steam train to Bridgnorth, having lunch and returning the same way (Another 4 miles). If you are interested then let us know as these day trips really do require a lot of work and we only want to put the effort into things that you actually want to do.
Following the success of the last Hill Training Course it is listed again on Mondays in September:
The idea is to get you hill fit so that you can book on the harder hilly walks without fear. The course is not for those who are hill fit, it is to create an environment where those not to ready can progress at their pace with like minded people. It was a great success last time so feel free to book:
In November we are running our very popular and amazing Ski Fit Cousres:
We will also be doing a Fit For Life Course for those who enjoy a progressive fitness course:
We all know Laura, the instructor from Derbyshire, who we met at our festival and who we joined at Chatsworth. Well I am planning a 2019 late April trip to walk the Monsal Trail http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/visiting/trails/monsaltrail
If anyone thinks this is a good idea then let me know and I will continue with the plans.
NORDIC WALKING VISITS THE DAMBUSTERS
There are several of you who missed out on the Somme trip in 2017 who have asked for details of the 2018 trip. We already have 13 people who have been out on the waiting list for the 2018 trip.
